Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information GRAND collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it and the choices and rights you have. It is written to be read, not skimmed past.

Effective October 4, 2026

1. Who we are and what this policy covers

GRAND is operated by Grand Ryde NY Inc., a New York corporation located at 36-13 32nd St, Astoria, NY 11106 (“GRAND”, “we”, “us”). GRAND operates a transportation technology and dispatch platform for New York’s for-hire fleet. This policy applies to ridewithgrand.com and its subdomains, the GRAND Drive app for iOS and Android, GRAND’s dispatch, base, finance and administration consoles, the GRAND partner and developer portals and APIs, and the emails, text messages and support we provide (together, the “Services”).

It covers information about drivers and driver applicants, base owners and staff, dispatchers, finance users, broker and health-plan partners, passengers (riders) whose trips are handled through GRAND, and visitors to our websites.

Where GRAND handles trip or rider information on behalf of a broker, health plan, base or other transportation partner, that partner’s own privacy notice also applies and our handling is governed by our agreement with them. Where a separate notice or agreement applies to a specific service, it controls for that service.

2. Information we collect

What we collect depends on how you use GRAND:

WhoInformationSource
Drivers and applicantsName, email, phone, home address, date of birth, sign-in details, TLC license and record, DMV license details, vehicle details (plate, VIN, registration, inspection, insurance, FH-1), driver agreement, documents and photos you submit (including a selfie), your Social Security number (stored encrypted, never shown again after you enter it; only the last 4 digits are shared with the transportation partner that approves drivers, and it can complete your W-9 tax form), availability, shifts, earnings and payment records, messages and support history. If you start signing up in the app, we save your progress (the TLC license and plate you check, the phone and email you verify and the address you choose) so our team can help you finish, even before an account exists. You, your base, public NYC TLC records, the vehicle registration and VIN decoder services, and transportation partners that assign you work.

Website visitors and sign-upsInformation you enter in sign-up or contact forms (name, phone, email, company, role, fleet size, service interest, message and the best time to reach you), plus basic request logs and the essential cookies described in our Cookie Policy. You and your browser.
CommunicationsEmails, text messages, in-app messages, call notes and support requests, including verification codes we send. You and our communication providers.

Documents such as licenses or insurance cards can contain other personal or sensitive details. Please provide only what is requested. We do not collect your device contacts, microphone recordings, or payment-card numbers through the app.

3. Precise location and background GPS

With your permission, GRAND Drive collects precise location while you are signed in as an approved driver, including between jobs and when the app is closed, in the background or the screen is locked. Going off duty does not stop location sharing; signing out does. The app explains this before your phone asks for permission.

We use location to show your vehicle to your dispatch team, offer nearby jobs, calculate arrival times, record pickup and drop-off events, provide GPS proof of service to the transportation partner that assigned the trip, reconcile trips and pay, and investigate incidents or disputes.

You can stop location sharing at any time by signing out or changing the permission in your phone’s settings. Location-dependent features, such as receiving offers and completing assigned trips, will not work without it. Location points waiting to upload are kept in an encrypted queue on your device. We never use location for advertising.

4. Camera, photos, documents and face detection

You choose when to capture or submit documents, vehicle photos, trip evidence or incident photos. Guided selfie capture uses on-device face detection only to help you frame your photo (face position and head angle). GRAND does not create face templates, face geometry or other biometric identifiers, does not use facial recognition to identify you, and does not perform liveness checks.

Text in documents you upload may be read automatically so reviewers can confirm fields such as license numbers and expiry dates; a person reviews the result.

5. How we use information

  • Provide the Services: create and secure accounts, review driver applications and credentials, dispatch and track trips, and show pay, fees and statements.
  • Meet transportation-program requirements: keep trip, GPS, credential and service records that bases, brokers, health plans and regulators require.
  • Communicate with you: verification codes, trip and offer alerts, account and application updates, support replies and service notices.
  • Pay and account correctly: calculate driver pay, base fees and GRAND fees, prepare statements and reconcile payments.
  • Keep people and the platform safe: verify identity and eligibility, detect fraud, misuse and security threats, and investigate incidents.
  • Support and improve GRAND: troubleshoot your app version, device and permissions, fix problems and develop features.
  • Comply with law and enforce our terms, including responding to lawful requests and defending legal claims.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral or targeted advertising. We do not use rider health-related information for any purpose other than arranging and documenting the requested transportation.

6. How we share information

  • With the people doing the work: your base, dispatchers and GRAND staff see what they need for their role. Assigned drivers see the rider details needed to complete a trip.
  • With transportation partners: when a broker, health plan or base assigns a trip, we return the trip status, driver and vehicle identifiers, timestamps and GPS proof of service the program requires.
  • With service providers who work for us under contract, only to provide their service: cloud hosting (Amazon Web Services), network and security (Cloudflare), maps and routing (Google Maps Platform and OpenStreetMap-based services), text messaging and verification (Twilio), email delivery (SendGrid by Twilio), push notifications (Expo, Apple Push Notification service and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging), app distribution (Apple App Store and Google Play), vehicle information lookup (NHTSA VIN decoder and licensed plate-lookup providers) and image generation for vehicle illustrations (no personal information is sent).
  • With public-record sources: we check TLC license and vehicle records against NYC Open Data; we do not send your information to that service beyond the license or plate being looked up.
  • For legal reasons: when required by law, subpoena or other legal process, to respond to regulators such as the NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission, or to protect the rights, property or safety of riders, drivers, the public or GRAND.
  • In a business transfer: if GRAND is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, information may transfer under this policy’s protections.
  • With your direction or consent.

Mobile phone numbers and text-message opt-in information are never sold, rented or shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Our text-messaging provider receives them only to deliver GRAND's messages.

7. Health-related trip information

Some trips are non-emergency medical transportation arranged by health plans or their brokers. For those trips, the information we receive may reveal that a rider has a medical appointment or mobility need. Where GRAND receives protected health information on behalf of a covered entity or business associate, we use and disclose it only as permitted by our agreement with that organization and applicable law, and we apply role-based access and minimum-necessary sharing to it.

8. How long we keep information

9. How we protect information

Information travels over encrypted HTTPS connections. App sign-in credentials use your device’s secure storage, and the offline location queue is encrypted. Access inside GRAND is limited by role and organization, and administrative actions are logged. We use rate limits and monitoring to block misuse. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a security incident affecting your information, we will notify you and regulators as the law requires, including under New York’s SHIELD Act.

10. Your choices

  • Update your profile and contact details in the app or by contacting us.
  • Turn location, camera and notification permissions on or off in your phone’s settings (some features need them).
  • Stop text messages by replying STOP; see our SMS Messaging Terms. Account and security messages may still be sent by email.
  • Unsubscribe from non-essential emails using the link in the email or by writing to us.
  • Sign out of sessions and devices from the app or by contacting support.
  • Request deletion of your account at any time (section 12).

11. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, get a copy of it, correct it, delete it and object to or limit certain uses. Residents of California and several other states have these rights under their state privacy laws. We honor these requests for all users where we reasonably can, not only where the law requires.

California residents: in the last 12 months we collected the categories of information described in section 2 (identifiers, customer records, professional information, geolocation, device and internet activity, audio-visual information such as photos, and sensitive information such as driver’s license numbers and precise geolocation) from the sources in section 2, for the purposes in section 5, and disclosed them to the recipients in section 6. We do not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising, and we use sensitive personal information only for purposes permitted by law (providing the Services, security and legal compliance). We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

To make a request, email [email protected] or [email protected], or call 718-433-4255. We verify requests by confirming control of the email or phone on the account and may ask for more information for sensitive requests. You may use an authorized agent with your signed permission. We respond within the time the law requires (generally 45 days). If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision or writing to [email protected] with “Appeal” in the subject.

12. Deleting your account

Drivers can request deletion in GRAND Drive (Settings & privacy → Privacy & account deletion) or at ridewithgrand.com/delete-account, which works without the app or a sign-in. We confirm the request with you, delete the account and the personal information we no longer need, and tell you which records we must keep, why and for how long (for example trip and pay records required by transportation programs or tax law). Uninstalling the app does not delete your account.

13. Children

The Services are for adults. Drivers must meet TLC licensing age requirements, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 (or under 16 where state law sets a higher age) except as rider information supplied by a parent, guardian or program arranging their transportation. If you believe a child has given us information directly, contact us and we will delete it.

14. Where information is processed

GRAND serves New York and stores information in the United States. If you use the Services from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

15. Changes to this policy

We will update this policy as GRAND changes. The effective date at the top shows the latest version. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will tell you in the app, by email or on this page before it takes effect, and ask for consent where the law requires.
